Steven L. Sherman of Riverton died at Riverton Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, May 17, 2011. He was 63.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date.

Steven LeRoy Sherman was born in Everett, Wash., on Jan. 17, 1948, the son of Elmer LeRoy Sherman and Myrtle Doris (Haas) Sherman.

He served in the U.S. Navy during peacetime.

On May 26, 1967, he married Dorothy Ann Benner in Grays Harbor, Wash.

Mr. Sherman had worked in the oil fields as a roustabout and driller and worked on the oil rig off-shore at India. He also worked in Hawaii, building roads and rock walls. Mr. Sherman was a meat cutter, having earned certification in the industry from a meat cutting school in South Dakota.

His family said Mr. Sherman enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, camping, and going for rides.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ann Sherman of Riverton; sons, Steven LeRoy Sherman, Jr., of Casper, and Fredrick Lon Sherman and his wife Maranda of Riverton; a daughter, Linda LeAnn Witt and her companion David Keil of Riverton; 10 grandchildren, Calvin Sherman, Christina Sherman, Richie Sherman, Cindy Sherman, Charlie Witt, Jessica Sherman, Jessalyn Witt, Shasta Keele, Kaleb Sherman, and Orion Sherman; a great grandchild, Kaden; brothers, Randy Hugley and Fred Hugley; sisters, Linda Joy Boat and Tony Foster; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
