Shawn Eric Antelope, Sr., 51, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on August 21, 2025, at Wyoming Medical Center. He was born on October 27, 1973, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, to Joseph Shawn and Stella (Morrison) Antelope.

 

A wake will be held at Eagle Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.

 

Shawn grew up in South Dakota and also lived for a short time in Arizona and California before returning to the Wind River Reservation. He attended Crazy Horse High School in South Dakota and later Lander Valley High School in Wyoming, where he enjoyed playing football and other sports. He became a father at the age of 16.

 

He worked in various fields throughout his life, including on the oil rigs and as a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA), often working alongside his siblings who also pursued caregiving. Shawn was a Christian and attended the Street Church on the Wind River Reservation.

 

On December 19, 2014, in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, he married Elizabeth Goodman. Together they shared nearly eleven years of marriage. Shawn enjoyed wood carving, riding his bike, visiting the casino, and most of all, spending time with his family.

 

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Antelope; sons, Shawn Eric Antelope, Jr. and Cory Hill; daughters, Raquel Black and Shonesy Moss; stepdaughters, Nicole and Tashina Goodman; brother, Lester Antelope; and sisters, Joni Antelope, Deni Antelope, and Debra Antelope.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Stella Antelope; daughter, Erikel Shawn Antelope; brother, Rayman Antelope; nephews, Joseph Clifford Antelope and Shannon Amos, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Shannon Amos, Sr.
