Penny Herdt - 2/28/2014

Anna will be missed dearly as I'm sure she has touched everyone's heart who has ever met her. She always had a big beautiful smile and an open door. I remember spending much time at your home growing up and always looked forward to birthday times as she could make a mean birthday cake!! I couldn't believe how lucky I was to have her make my bear cake! Then to have her also make my HS graduation and wedding cakes couldn't have been more special. I will always cherish her memory & consider you all family. May The Lord hold you all a little closer now while you are pushing through your tears and remember what a wonderful woman she was.

All my love,

My Sweetest Mommy. Thank you for being such a great Mom. You have always been there for me with a warm smile and an open heart. You've always listened to every problem, no matter how small. Offered advice, even when I didn't want to listen. Whenever I needed you, you were there, no questions asked. When I needed help after my son was born, you stayed a week. When I was in the hospital for pre-term labor with the twins, you stayed with my son and helped run my home. When the twins came home, you stayed another two weeks to help me adjust. When my son was sick, you came all the way from Thermopolis to take care of my family while we took him to Denver. You have come to my rescue so many times, I could never list them all. You have been an amazing Grandmother to my boys. You were wonderful at playing with them, and toy shopping with them (and me!). They always loved going Grandma's house and going through the toy closet! Thank you for going to all the birthdays, tournaments, concerts, etc (etc, etc!!). You were such an important part of our everyday lives, and we are devastated by your loss. You were the best Mom and the best Friend. I love you, and I will miss you every day of my life.

My heart and prayers go out to Mark and the family. Anna will forever be one of the greatest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with. Her compassion and her honesty toward everyone around her was an inspiration. Thank you to Anna for being one of the greatest friends I've ever had. Go rest high. You deserve it.

We are still in shock from the awful news we received a few days ago. Mark, you and the girls and their families are in our prayers. Anna was such an awesome sister, friend and aunt to our family. So many great memories of her. Always such a loving person, always smiling and ready to share a memory or two from a family event or talk about her wonderful kids and grand kids. Miles have separated our families for the last 25+ years, but we always looked forward to those summer visits. Wish we could have at least one more. We will definitely miss her. She was the best in so many ways! We will be thinking of you and the kids as you go through these next few days and weeks. May God give you comfort and peace and wrap his loving arms around all of you. God Bless!

Love, Dirk & Darlene

Letter From Heaven
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God
above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was
through. God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while
you were gone. As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to
do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to
flight. God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving
years. Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain. Remember
there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is
over. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to
climb; But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got Me on
your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go....from that body to be
free. Remember you're not going.....you're coming here to Me.

What we feel in silence is a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you passed, but that you lived, and that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. Let us know that each tear we cry is a note of love rising to the heavens. I love you my sister.

We have known Anna now for over 20 years. She was one of the finest women we have ever met. She loved her God and her family. Anna devoted to her children and to her grandchildren, every single one of them. We shared three of those grandchildren, and I know how much they love her. She was probably one of the hardest working women I have ever known, and she never complained. I know her faith in God sustained her through the loss of Paul, knowing she would be with him someday. She is now, free of work, free of the tethers to this life. Yet I know she will be closely watching every one of her family, loving them just as much now as she did here on earth. She is in the loving arms of our Lord, forever the Mother and Grandmother.
