Herbert 'Herb' Thompson

Thompson, Herbert "Herb"

Sounds like he lived a life full of adventure, and now he's off to another one. My heart aches for you in your painful loss, but I can only rejoice for him beginning this journey. As my favorite song says, "When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing God's praise, than when we first begun." I love and miss you guys, and you will all continue to be in my prayers.

Doug and Dennis,
So sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I understand he was here not long ago for the annual fishing trip. Glad he was able to do what he loved doing.

We are both so sorry to hear of Herb's sudden passing. Although we weren't technically 'family' to Herb and Arlene you sure wouldn't know it by how warmly we were treated by both of them. We spent many fun times together with them, Stephanie, John ,Cher, and Skip. We were invited to their home many times and hosted them at ours frequently also. We enjoyed countless times getting together playing cards, watching sports, and just having fun, laughing and being all together. We also have fond memories of past vacations together in Sun Valley and the Oregon coast.

After many years of card playing together Arlene busted Herb about cheating at cards. I guess it really wasn't cheating but he hated to deal when it was his turn so he always said he just dealt the last hand and passed the cards off to the next person. After that revelation we always made sure he dealt when his turn came around and we all said it in unison! In spite of that we loved him dearly and he was fondly called at various times 'Herbie the Love Bug', 'Terrible Herbst', 'Herbicide', and 'bugman'.

After Arlene passed and he moved to Tucson we also visited him there and saw him again when he came to Thanksgiving in Palm Desert a couple of years ago. We were so pleased to see that he brought his new friend Geneva along for all of us to meet. It was great to see them enjoying each others company the last few years.

He will genuinely be missed.Jan & Gordy Smith
