John H. Russell, Jr.

Russell, Jr., John H.

I was so saddened to read about John's passing, it was shocking. I just loved John, he was a wonderful person, friend and was always special too me. He will be greatly missed by everyone. I am sorry that I can not attend his funeral, but I have doctor appointments in Casper on Thursday and Friday. May god bless you at this time and give you the peace and serenity. Jeannie Portlock

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. I am stunned and saddened by this news. John was a wonderful, compassionate, and caring person. For all of us who had the pleasure of his friendship and for any who knew him in passing, our lives will be enriched forever. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his sincerity and kindness. May God be with each and every one during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Patty, Wanda and Jim,

My heart goes out to each of you at this time. I was so shocked to hear about Johnny. He was much too young. I have been reflecting on different things of him, one thing really stands out in my mind though. One of the many times that I was staying overnight with Wanda, Johnny went to sleep with one sock on (maybe even his clothes, I don't recall), and Mrs. Russell held the tossle haired Johnny on her lap and recited the Deedle, Deedle Dumpling, My Son John rhyme. He grinned. As the years passed, he grew into a fine young man, a professional, one with great personality and a caring person.

For some reason God called him home. Maybe someday we will all know why. While here on earth he touched so many lives and was loved by many. He will be greatly missed by not only his family, but his many friends. I feel blessed to have known him, along with his wonderful family.

Penny, Matt, Aaron and families:
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. John was a one-in-a- million guy. I feel so privileged to have called him a friend. He was a truly good-from-the-heart man. Other people were always a concern for him, more so than himself. His sense of humor was there always. Even when things weren't good and things didn't go right, he still seemed to be able to find the humor in it. I have a couple of stained glass pieces that I will always cherish because they were done by him. Even though he was surrounded by us women (all of us mother hens), he persevered. I don't know how he truly felt about having to work with so many of us, but to us he was very special. I know there are a lot more nice guys out there, but there won't ever be another Johnny.
I lost my own dad 17 years ago and I still remember the feelings that went with the loss. My heart hurts for all of you and I know things will never be the same. If there is anything that I can do for any of you, please let me know. I'm the absolute worst person to have around at this time because I get too emotional and I can't help anybody so it's best that I stay away, but know that I'm thinking about you all and wishing I could help ease your pain. We know that he's in a better place and deep down inside we're so glad he didn't have to suffer. Suffering can be worse than death, I'm sure. I guess that's up to the rest of us. God be with you and your families.

I'm glad I got to know Johnny -- for his humor and his compassion, which he had a knack for combining. His gentle nature was what I will always remember. Many will miss him. I am one of those. I hold all of you -- immediate family, to include Penny -- in my heart at this difficult time.

I'm sure Robert's Aunt Hazel would be writing you today if she could.
So we are writing.
Aunt Hazel and Johnny's mother were friends for 70 plus years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Matt and Aaron - We're so sorry to hear about your dad passing away. He was such a wonderful man and we all enjoyed his kindness and his sense of humor! We have lots of good memories of your dad at swimming meets and stuff when when Sarah and I were kids. We're sorry that we couldn't make the service. Please let us know if there's anything we can do during this rough time. You're in our thoughts and prayers.
